The biggest challenge with them is going to be is if they are still going to live with the old data base. I am not very positive and yes you have pointed out a very valid point that they should have worked closely with SMB for a SMB solution.

At time I think the right model could be the right mix of Online and hosted solution which would ideally suit the requirements of SMB space.

Eg. A distributor network who could use KashFlow to link all its suppliers and bring them on a common platform while they might use something else at the central office.

Those are the questions I was kicking myself for not asking. So the following is just speculation from what Duncan said.

It is a web-based front end for the Sage of old, but you don’t host the Sage 50 back-end database yourself, they do. So no, no oher software required.

I said that if anything it’d take customers away from their Sage Startup product, which he agreed with.

You say that Sage Live has a Sage 50 back end. Does this imply that Sage Live is more of a web-based front end to the Sage of old, or is it fully architected for the web?

And does it require an installation of Sage 50 or any other software?

I agree that it is a good thing if Sage validate our approach, as long they are entering the web-based accounting game properly rather than to muddy the waters. I don’t think we need them, but it will speed along the adoption of web-based accounting as the standard approach for all SMB’s.

Cheers

Mark
