Windows Phone 7 – which is a nice toy (and stands up well in comparison to the alternatives in terms of capability and useability) – has a visual search as standard including QR codes.

I think the point you make is valid though – don’t focus excessively on any one thing. My feeling would be that you probably should have a QR code linking to the site on the literature etc, but you shouldn’t make it a point of emphasis – it should just be there…

Really? I stand corrected then, I didn’t think anyone was building them in as standard!

Fair point; I guess that if a younger, more techy segment was quizzed on the subject both of those numbers would be higher…

That’s another good one! Where possible, one page leaflets that convey info quickly and concisely are a definite plus. Ideally, one should try to come up with a concept so memorable people won’t even need a leaflet to take away…but maybe that’s wishful thinking on behalf of us marketers and eco-warriors!

I think one has to be careful with this one because its something that is a slow burn… 40% awareness is actually pretty good and 13% is more than 1 in 8 and I’ll bet that number is going up. Plus QR codes work with the tech people have got.

Now if you were talking about NFC then yes – way too soon.

Remember they have to carry it round for the rest of the day (so guess where they are likely to end up after a couple of hours? Yep, the bin). Happened to me a month ago at the NEC! I went in there weighing 8 stone and within an hour I must have been touching 10 stone!!
