Once the system received the person’s email address it automatically shot them an email blast thanking them for visiting my booth. The key is sending the email right away as the person is engaging; as opposed to getting back to the office, entering all the cards and then sending an email later.

The reason: people couldn’t bloody remember they’d ever entered and thought we were spam. When I told Mailchimp about the sweepstakes, they basically said that sweepers are bad subscribers.
