I think it is un realistic to expect many companies to get rid of the application server in their offices inexchange for a completely web based opperation.

I do look forward to the day when all software is completely online but i think we’re a way off being able to rely on the internet for all of it and trusting BT to keep our internet connections up. And if they don’t what do we do if we have a 100 strong workforce and cant access the internet and therefore any of our information?

I don’t think it’s the computer that’s open to security flaws it’s the software.

For those still running IE6, IE7 you could always run Google Chrome Frame http://blog.chromium.org/2009/09/introducing-google-chrome-frame.html and get rid of IE completely.

If you don’t want to patch Windoze install a linux distro instead.

Apart from the fact that older computers are usually more open to security flaws, as most struggle to run SP3, IE8 etc which increase security, especially in KashFlows case.
