Every year we’re faced with a difficult dilemma. We want to spoil our customers with some free drinks and treats. In fact, that’s one of the main reasons we throw a big Christmas party – it’s tough for freelancers and very small businesses to throw a Christmas party of their own, so we invite everyone to join ours! But therein lies the age old dilemma of the events planner – if an event is free, it’s easy for people to bail out at the last minute if it’s raining, or something good is happening on Hollyoaks…forgive me, I’m sure you all have better taste in television than I do.
Charging for tickets, which we have done in the past, doesn’t sit quite right with us so we’re trying something new this year. The party is free…but we’re taking donations to charity to the tune of five pounds in exchange for tickets. When attendees arrive, they’ll receive a free cocktail (c’mon, this is London, you can’t even get a cocktail for less than a fiver…not anywhere nice, anyway) and finger food on entry. Hopefully taking donations mean that people feel invested enough to turn up, but don’t…y’know, hate us for being greedy. If we max out the venue, we’ll also be able to donate somewhere between £500 and £1,000 to Centrepoint, an incredibly worthy charity that helps get young homeless people off the streets…even more important in winter than it is during the rest of the year. And it’ll all be thanks to you guys.
We hope to see you there.
